Build a Chat App using Ruby on Rails

We're going to build a simple chat application to introduce students to the Rails framework and the Ruby programming language.

We're back from our break, and ready to kick off another exciting year of RailsSchool here in Charlottesville!

In this class, we're going to assume students have no existing knowledge of ruby or rails, and will introduce them to this powerful platform. While the course is geared towards beginners, intermediate and advanced programmers will also find plenty of learning opportunities (like making the app real-time using ActionCable, for example). We also welcome experts to come and help others, as that's the backbone of our learning community.

Since this will be a hands-on class, please bring a laptop that you can connect to the internet with. We'll be using the online platform for our development, so that you don't need to worry about setting up or installing anything on your computer. If you do want to be able to develop locally on your computer right away, check out our FAQ for some good links on getting started.
